The Stillness Before Dawn

The Stillness Before Dawn

There’s something magical about late nights and the quiet hours before dawn. For me, it’s the perfect time to think, build, and just be present with myself. No distractions, no pings, no pressure — just stillness.

Since high school, I’ve had this habit of staying up late to explore things I love: coding random ideas, brainstorming startup concepts, or just following my curiosity down rabbit holes. In college, my roommates would shake their heads seeing me wide awake at 2 AM, deep into a project. They never got why — and honestly, I didn’t either, until I realized it’s because those hours give me freedom.

That silence makes me sharper, more focused, and weirdly at peace. It’s not that I can’t work during the day, but the night feels like it’s mine. In those moments, I don’t demand anything from myself — and that’s usually when my best work happens.

I’m aware that being a night owl isn’t the “healthiest” choice. Sometimes I try flipping it — sleeping early and rising before dawn. Other times, I just let myself flow with late nights. At the end of the day, it’s about rhythm. Find what works for you, lean into it, and most importantly — enjoy the process.
